Taylor Swift won the album of the year at the Grammys for her highly successful “1989” album making history by becoming the first woman to ever win the prestigious award for that category twice. As she walked on stage, the world watched and wondered if she would address her haters, particularly Kanye West. Well, she didn’t disappoint.
Kanye West, who recently dropped a new song, “Famous,” claims that he’s responsible for making Swift a star.
For all my Southside niggas that know me best
I feel like me and Taylor might still have sex
Why? I made that bitch famous (God damn)
I made that bitch famous
As she took to the microphone, she didn’t name names — but we all knew exactly who she was talking about, especially when she emphasized the word “fame.”
I want to say to all the young women out there: There are going to be people along the way who will try to undercut your success or take credit for your accomplishments or your fame. But if you just focus on the work and you don’t let those people sidetrack you, someday when you get where you’re going, you’ll look around and you will know that it was you and the people who love you who put you there. And that will be the greatest feeling in the world. Thank you for this moment.
While West didn’t attend the Grammys, I’m sure he heard Taylor Swift’s speech loud and clear.
