CINCINNATI, OHIO – On Wednesday, after less than one hour of deliberating, a jury recommended that Glen Bates, 33, be put to death in the murder of his 2-year-old daughter, Glenara.
When she died on March 29, 2015, Glenara weighed only 13 pounds.
Bates and his girlfriend, Andrea Bradley, 30, were charged with aggravated murder in connection with the death of Glenara, who was grossly underweight when she died. Both turned down plea deals that would have removed the option of death sentences.
Bradley’s case is being handled separately.
Bates was found guilty Monday of several charges, including aggravated murder and child endangering, in the death of Glenara.
The cause of death was acute and chronic head injuries, battered child syndrome and starvation. The most serious head injuries, prosecutors said, happened when Bates, swung Glenara into a door frame “like a baseball bat.”
