When your parents let you do whatever you want…
ATLANTA – The teenage brothers sought in a fatal shooting at an Atlanta gas station turned themselves over to police Sunday.
Friends and community members told Channel 2’s Nicole Carr they suspected Charlie McDaniel, 16, and his 15-year-old brother, Isaac McDaniel, calling them outsiders who had been causing trouble in the area.
They turned themselves in at 166 Edwards St. NW, Atlanta police spokeswoman Officer Kim Jones said.
“They were with their parents this morning at Hunter Hill First Baptist Church,” Jones said.
Anthony Brooks, 50, was shot Thursday night after an alleged confrontation about recent carjackings in front of the Shell station on Campbellton Road.
Police were called to the scene about 8:45 p.m. and Brooks was taken to Grady Memorial Hospital, where he later died, Jones said.
Brooks was a beloved member of the Ben Hill community.
“Loved by just about everybody in his community,” neighbor Stephen Bunkley said.
Three men got away in a red Dodge Charger stolen from College Park.
Those familiar with the situation told Carr that the boys did not know their mother was arranging a surrender and they arrived separately from their parents.
