Victoria’s Secret Makes History By Hiring 3 Gorgeous Natural Hair Models to Walk the Runway in Paris (Photos)

It’s been the year of the natural hairstyles among Black women, but it’s still great to see a high-end retail chain promote it as well.

The annual Victoria’s Secret Fashion Show, which airs tomorrow (Monday) night on CBS, will feature several gorgeous Black women sporting natural hairstyles as they hit the runway in Paris.

According to the Grio:

Jourdana Phillips will rock a gorgeous short blonde haircut; Harieth Paul shimmers in her short Afro; Maria Borges rocked her ‘fro for the second year in a row; and Alanna Arrington showed off her loose curls.

Stylist and Beachwaver creator Sarah Potempa said that the agreement backstage was that all the models should wear their hair in diverse ways to avoid having one uniform “look.”

“It’s about the whole idea of embracing everyone’s natural beauty,” she told People.

That was certainly the case for Borges, who made history last year as the first model to rock her ‘fro on the runway. This year, she wore an outfit that she described as her “love letter to my beloved continent, Africa.”
