Curren$y & Damon Dash

Warner Bros. rapper Curren$y has filed a lawsuit against Damon Dash on the grounds that Dame is allegedly profiting off of his music without his permission. 

Back in 2010 Curren$y attempted to sign a record deal with Dash who used to co-own Roc-A-Fella Records with Jay Z.  But the deal never materialized and the rapper ended up signing with Warner Bros in January of 2011.  That deal gave Warner exclusive rights to Curren$y’s music.

In the lawsuit the rapper claims the music exec was aware of his new contract with Warner Bros but continued to hock his music despite the fact that he had no agreement with the rapper.

Now, Curren$y is demanding the producer quit profiting off him in any way. Curren$y also wants $1.5 million in damages.

But Damon fired back at the accusations with his own response – claiming, he has the right to release the albums in question because he was given permission. What’s more — Damon says Curren$y stabbed him in the back, reneging on his agreement with Damon and signing with WB instead.

Damon can’t catch a break. Hope things start looking up for him.
