Black NYPD Officer Beaten Up By Fellow Policemen Wins $15 Million In Damages

Larry Jackson, 45 year old black off-duty police officer, was having a birthday party for his daughter outside his home in Queens in 2010. During the midst of the party, a fight broke out between guests prompting Jackson’s wife to call 911.

When police got there, they assumed Jackson was one of the troublemakers. He was beaten, pepper-sprayed and his hand fractured. All the while he was a member of NYPD.

Jackson was heard telling arresting officers “Dude, it is my house! I am a police officer too!”

His cries were ignored.

Jackson was handcuffed and taken to the local police station even after his NYPD badge was found in his front pocket.
