The girl’s mother, 31-year-old Tina Farrington, is being held without bond at the Miami-Dade County jail on a first-degree murder charge.
Farrington allegedly suffocated Taina with a pillow on Halloween, after becoming angry with the girl, according to an arrest report.
The woman was home with Taina and the child’s younger brother when the alleged killing took place around 7pm.
Tina became upset after Taina talked back to her, according to the Sun Sentinel.
She then ‘lured’ sassy Taina and her brother to her bedroom, where she used a pillow to suffocate her daughter, police said.
Police said Farrington hid Taina’s body in the trunk of her 2013 Nissan Altima until she noticed a foul odor.
“For several days” Farrington stashed her daughter’s body in the trunk of her 2013 Nissan Altima sedan. When the smell became too intense, Farrington moved the child’s body to a dumpster, inside her apartment complex, around 1 a.m. Sunday.
Investigators said they were able to see bruises on her arms, legs and torso, despite the child’s body beginning to decompose.
According to police, Farrington confessed to killing Taina.
The family set up a GoFundMe account for Taina. It has raised more than $14,000 for the child’s family.
